Service Description

Do you feel discomfort in your neck and upper back on a daily basis and at times experience limited mobility when turning your head? Do you spend a lot of time in front of a computer screen and make often use of the electronic devices to socialize? Well the forward head position of looking at the screen, and looking down at the phone and spending much of your time in this position, we experience tension and stiffness in the neck and upper back. We think that it is an inevitable side effect of our modern lifestyle and by doing some stretches the pain will go away. The unfortunate reality is that we leave it unaddressed and the neck and upper back tension inevitably worsens with our technology and sedentary work lifestyle. When we continue to live in this kind of habitual movement pattern, where the muscles of the body stays in a locked long or locked short position for many hours, it can lead to wear, tear and degeneration of the body. As simple as carrying handbags on one shoulder and sitting longer hours disrupts the alignment of our spinal curves. The good news is that yoga can help! Just like a tree needs strong root system to support the trunk, we need to provide foundation for head, neck, upper back and middle back by working from bottom up. In this 5-weeks program you will: (Each session is 75 minutes) - Learn proper activation and engagement of our core muscles - Strengthen the weak muscles and stretch the tight muscles of the mid-back and upper back - Increase the mobility of the thoracic spine and cervical spine with asana practice by bringing small and full range of motion - Learn how to activate and engage the mid-back core and the neck-core muscles and learn gentle movements for shoulder girdle, neck and head - Promote better alignment between your spinal curves by elongating the spine while supporting the natural shape of your spinal curves - Address tension headaches with specific head and eye movements - Calm your nervous system through resting in supported positions, deep breathing and relaxation (Please Note: Due to prior commitment, the last class will be on Wednesday, June 12th same time, instead of Thursday, June 13th).

Cancellation Policy

If you sign up and pay for any YogaSheila activity and are unable to attend please contact us to cancel at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time. You receive a refund minus a 15% fee, or you can get a full refund credited to your YogaSheila studio account (this credit can be used toward any purchase for up to 6 months). If we receive your cancellation request less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the activity, a refund minus 25% deducted from the payment. Cancellation requests must be made by email to: If you cancel on the day of or after the program has taken place, a refund minus 40% will be deducted from the payment. There are no make-up class or discount for any missed classes. An activity could occasionally be cancelled by the studio if there’s insufficient interest, or if a teacher has an emergency. If cancelled you will be notified by email as soon as possible, and you will receive a full refund or full credit toward your YogaSheila Studio account if you choose.
