recommend Jyoti Shah at YogaSheila.
She initially has a 6-week course where she explains the technical details of the muscles involved and the exercises that help those muscles. The focus is strenthening the core which helps with the lower back support. She teaches a variety of exercises so you have a good range to choose for your daily practice. There are lively and educational discussions and you learn a lot from other students experience.
After the six week course I continued taking the Yoga for Back Care practice sessions and also continued daily practice which is very important to see results. I think for the benefits you receive the fees are super reasonable and worth every penny.

The back care program had an immediate effect on my back. I saw results in a week. I learned how taking care of your core muscles can help the back. My doctor told me that, but I thought you have to do weight lifting exercises to make your core strong. I did not realize gentle exercises can strengthen your core muscle group. Jyoti very patiently explained how each muscle works and paid attention to each member in the group. Now I am hooked to her program. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get better.

I have taken Jyoti's yoga class for approximately eight weeks. This is the first time that I have participated in a yoga class. It is a beginner's class, which is great for me. Jyoti brings enthusiasm to the class and has a wonderful rapport with the participants. She is timely, conscientious, and always patient with the class. I highly recommend any of her classes to anyone who interested in learning yoga.
The lower back program has certainly helped me with my back problems. The yoga asanas were taught very nicely in a conducive atmosphere, and we were also educated about how these asanas help our body. Jyoti has a thorough knowledge about the subject, and conveys useful information throughout the program.

Even though I have experienced yoga before, I learned a lot from you like understanding the core, alignments and right way of doing. I took Jyoti’s Low Back Care series of classes and have the book to continue the asanas at home. The classes were wonderful and Jyoti provides a lot of one on one attention to help everyone in the class. I never felt left out and love the analogies she uses to explain how to engage your core and how to maintain a focus on breath and alignment throughout the day. I also like how she makes you aware of the position of the pelvis which is very important. This series of classes is very beneficial for anyone who has ever had a back problem and who hasn’t?

"I have been suffering from chronic low back pain for the past 10 years due to a slip disc and sciatica pain on right side and the pain would radiate all the down on the leg. I also had herniated disc L5-S1 and sitting down for an hour would aggravate my pain. I had initially gone through pain medication both steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. The local Physio therapy sessions gave me some amount of mobility. But I kept suffering with a limited range of movement and pain since I did not understand the root cause of my pain.
I started taking low back yoga sessions with Jyoti. My pain level was 7-8 when I started the Healing Yoga for Low Back program. Small things like how to sit, breathe and posture were corrected as part of the yoga practice. It made a HUGE difference for me. She was very good at adapting the poses for me and gradually I was able to move better than my previous week. I still have limitations on poses I can do. But my range of movement, general awareness and core stability has improved very much after the low back yoga program. The number of instances where I had to take pain medications has drastically reduced. Now after few months of yoga, I hardly have any pain, only stiffness in my body I feel due to my work.”
I have been in Jyoti's yoga class many years, a week without starting her class is not a complete week for me! She focuses on different poses and breathing exercises, ensuring each and everyone is comfortable doing it in the correct way.
She also shares recorded sessions to encourage us to practice it on daily basis. I also learned from her, Yoga is not just practicing every hour in a day, it's the art of including in every aspect of life while cooking while sitting or standing for long periods of time at work, while stressed out, or even when simply breathing modulating it in a correct way and the list goes on in much more ways.
