Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy involves yoga movements and postures (asanas), breath work (pranayama), philosophy, meditation & visualization practices. But what makes a yoga therapist different from yoga instructors is that they are trained to work on specific health conditions and apply these techniques therapeutically.
They can help with both physical and mental health issues. Yoga Therapists look at health conditions through a yoga therapy lens as well as assess from a western medicine perspective. Yoga Therapy approach health issues with a yogic and Ayurvedic model as well as from science perspective.
Yoga Therapy can help with:
-
musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck & shoulder, arthritis, pelvic floor dysfunction, chronic pain, cancer support, anxiety, depression, trauma.
-
strength, flexibility and balance training

-
breathing challenges such as asthma and COPD
-
repetitive stress injuries
-
healthy aging…and more
In your first yoga therapy session, I will guide you through an in-depth intake to understand your health history, lifestyle, activities of daily living, your goals and more.
The next steps then are:
-
I will do physical posture and breath assessment and discuss with you
-
Suggest yoga practices (posture & breath work) based on my assessment
-
make a plan for you to continue your yoga practice at home or come back for regular sessions
